Default Disablity NZ and how you are helped

Not sure if anyone can shed some light but I was recently in having a conversation with an expat regarding disability and the question arose:-

How are you looked after if you become disabled after getting residency and live NZ compared to the UK?

I'm afraid I couldnt answer it ans was wondering if anyone had any info.
Many thanks
