difference between a visa or permit?
 
hi all

can anyone let me know what the difference between a visa and permit is?

I am going to apply for temp work, but the immigration website says 'visa or permit' but when i click on it, it doesnt come up.

Visa is what you need to get into the country (i.e through passport control),
Permit is what you need to stay in that country
