Did anyone go to the NZ Expo at Manchester?
Hi All!
Just wondering if anyone went to the Manchester NZ Expo today (Saturday) and if so how did you rate it, who was there, etc.
Cheers,
Dave and Lyns

Hiya. We decided to go tomorrow, as I figured that parking would be easier (and possibly cheaper) on a Sunday... Hope it's worth it...

Hi there,
Yes I went to the expo and it was really useful.
I'm just looking at moving over there and there were tons of people on hand who really were extremely helpful.
There were recruitment agencies, employers and people from the immigration service so everyone you'd need basically.
The seminars were ok, run by a group of elderly gentlemen who lets say werent at the front of the queue when they were handing out flare and enthusiasm!
Definitely helpful though and got to make a few handy contacts.
Cheers

And yes, it was hot in there (we took a couple of walks outside of the hotel to cool down a bit with our toddler).

tell me about it we have got to go through our bags and bags of info.we went to the London earls court expo did anyone go to that one?it was very helpful to us and very hot. we had our 3year old and 1 year old they were so good bless them, felt a bit guilty taking them but we had to, difficult to get people to look after 2 children (is it just us or dose anyone else have the same problem) getting family or friends to look after 2 kids. social life goes right out of the window. But wouldn't change them for the world.

I was going to go with hubby and little'un (almost 6), but they were both full of a cold and so I went alone. It was probably easier, in hindsight, and it meant I could sit in on a couple of seminars.
I was pleased to see Paul (can't remember his surname) in the KiwiORA seminar, the guy that wrote a book about his move to NZ. I just finished reading it a couple of weeks ago and was keen to see how his life had progressed since the book was finished. The book covered his first year in NZ, and what hard work it was, and how many times they had nearly gone home, mainly due to financial problems. Well, they weathered it, and have been there for 4 years now, so it was encouraging.
I really should be sorting out the stuff in the carrier bags, instead of sitting here at the PC... someone please give me a push in that direction...

Despite the heat and the crowds I found the expo great. I must admit i was not expecting to video interview with one recruitment agent while a crowd of hopefuls looked on... or to have to carry the bright pink shoulder bag containing the helpful stuff from Auckland healtcare for the OH.. I mean it just did not go with my shoes darlings!
Altogether an interesting day...

I went to the expo on the sunday. Traffic was still a nightmare in the CC. Travelled down after a night shift from Scotland and only managed the last hour of the expo but was well worth it. There wasnt as many IT agencies as I would have liked but hey...thats what the web is for....and yes it was vvvhot in there!!lol
