We submitted our EOI on 29th Jan and where picked from the pool with 140 points on the 31st Jan.

Today when I logged onto the Immigration website I found THIS

Well done,we had 130 points to start with then after we started our application and paid the fees(EOI was a rip off charge just to say you could now pay to apply to emigrate).Then we were told our points had been dropped to 100 for various reasons ie Wellington was not an area of skills shortage in my trade(diesel fitter) and other things .We still went ahead and paid up for all the qualification checks in NZ to see if they(what a joke) met the standards required here ,we then had to get City and Guilds in London to confirm our exam certs were true and that cost money also.Medicals and X rays ,extra blood tests for no real reason as my doc even asked why they were needed but the medical board doctor we went to in York was so fussy he is probably scared to loose the right to earn so easy money from the medical that took all of 15 mins for a cheap fee of £250 each,the x rays were £80 each done at York hospital .It is a never ending few months of stress and pay out I can assure you but it was worth it as we got full residents visas and have no more to pay out unless we want a Kiwi passport and naturalisation .Might be an idea as we could then go to OZ whereas we could not before as we were too old to emigrate there(45 max).
Stick with it it is not cheap as you will find but well worth it in the end.
BTW what do you do and where do you want to live here in NZ,also good luck and low blood pressure ,see you at a bbq perhaps .

We are still waiting for our passports to come back with the little stickers in. We sent them off at the beginning of Feb...

Hopefully if our house sale goes to plan, we will land in NZ sometime in June
