It has been wet and blustery on and off all last night and today day here in Auckland but nowhere near as bad as I was expecting - we've had worse without as much fuss or warning and I haven't felt that it was at the scary stage.

We keep wondering if there is more yet to come although news reports seem to say we were at the peak of it this afternoon; you get a quiet spell for quite a while and start thinking perhaps it has passed and then it's back again. As I was typing the biggest gust I heard all day just went past and felt like the windows would burst and some things rattle around on the deck.

It was quite blowy east Auckland with some strong gusts, bursts of heavy rain but warm.

The storm was further out west in the sea than first expected so considering it was quite a way out, the winds were still pretty strong. I'm glad now that it was that far out as it could have been a lot worse. Hopefully it won't be too bad as it travels down and across the country.

It's windy here on and off at the moment with sunshine and showers but nice and warm around 23 degrees.

Stopped here.

I've survived. It must be a sign...I shall be your king! Let us find some tea bags and drink of the "nectar of the gods" to celebrate this momentous time. Who else survived 'the event' to start a new civilisation...and do you take sugar or saccharine?
