Cyclone Cook - Stay safe.

On the back of Cyclone Debbie causing floods & evacuations, we are now just three hours short of Cyclone Cook making NZ landfall.

Cyclone Cook is on its way, and it's set to be the worst storm in nearly 50 years
Charge up those phones and devices. Locate the emergency kits, food and water. Sort out those pets and animals.

Batten down those hatches & stay safe, dry and out of the wind everyone.

:fingerscrossed: it's not going to be anywhere near as bad as is feared.

Saw that article about people flocking to the supermarkets and was reminded Alfred Henry Lewis once said there where only about 9 meals between civilisation and anarchy so I'd like to wish those of you that have a plan to survive this Easter weekend the best of luck. Let the coundown to a violent future commence!

I am sure that tomorrow there will be countless tales of destruction in the press of the suffering caused in the storm's wake, but for now I shall enjoy some wine.;)

I sat down to watch the 6 Oclock News to see when it was hitting Auckland only to find it has already passed southwards. Lol. Seems to be tracking down to the east?

The older NZ members of my family are safely holidaying in UK after spending a week with me in Portugal so they are safe as I hope the rest of you will be.

Good luck wishes coming from Normandy to all is the zone.

If it makes you feel any better I hear 15 cm of snow is forecast in Alberta this weekend.

Anyone in the line of fire got reports?
It didn't happen in Auckland - just got the (now usual) downpours of rain as it approached. Kids got a day off and we were let out at 2pm. The reports of closing the Harbour Bridge spooked everyone big time.

We certainly did. It was eerily quiet most of the day here, it felt like something bad was coming but thankfully it didn't. Was worried that OH wouldn't be able to get home from Welly but he was lucky and his flight was on time. The previous one was delayed by four hours :( and actually departed after OH's. There were some fed-up peeps on that one.

We have started :drinkingwine:.

It rained overnight but it's actually been quite OK in Wellington.
