CTV (channel not the building)
How dare they!
Largely I’ve managed to ignore TV since moving to New Zealand, occasionally Prime has some BBC stuff on it that is good (and Myth busters! ) to watch but usually it’s: <Pick up remote, flick, flick, flick, OFF again>. Current affairs and American TV shows, we live happily in our ignorance .
Now I’ve discovered CTV though and they do things that are just unfair and under the belt. How dare they broadcast interesting segments from Deutsche Welle and Al Jazeera? How can TVNZ hope to cope against opposition offering programs that (just this evening for example) show: How scientists are making biofuel and building materials from algae that trap carbon dioxide making the air cleaner, supermarkets that are converting to new gas cooling systems that save energy and people going to live happily in the Philippines in retirement.
This kind of service in a menace to society, informative and interesting programming can lead to no good . Is this what you want, think of your children learning stuff from watching TV (think of the children! ) and news shows that offer a quality public information service!
I think it’s very un-New Zealand-ish and dangerous. If new ideas begin to permeate our society it might make people more innovative and interested in the world around them. Informed anarchy!
Let us lobby the Standards Authority to have it replaced with a show promoting the ideals like women aspiring to be anorexic retards and Mark Sainsbury talking about somebody’s lost dog.

Re: CTV (channel not the building)
I've been watching it for a while now and have to admit I have suffered recently from Independent thought syndrome.
I had ideas and questions that made me feel very unkiwi like so i turned it over to watch Home shopping on Prime to restore my balance.
