I know ! Am well 'ard too.

I've had a few kiwi neighbours around today & I do loves them.
They appeared all muffled up coz of a bit of a chill but were shown out to my sunny back deck .

Shock! Horror ! No wood burner going full bore during the day ?

Erm. Nopes.

Stunned silence and a bit of a shuffle.....
then....

"you'll be used to this where you come from "

Silly arses.

Yep, don't usually moan about being cold on the coast. But Bella's afternoon walk on the beach this arvo was a short one. Could see those water wheel spin things off Kapiti Island.
Having said that should not complain, when our hot water and heating went in the winter of 10/11 with snow in Nottingham that stayed on the ground for 6 weeks, that was dam cold. Wet wipes, a fab invention.

Ok - i'm clearly a soft southerner wimp. Mornings haven't been as bad, nights have been rather nippy!

It's all part of the learning curve, I think we've all been there and and heart failure at the first of the winter bills. I think the most we've ever been to is $350 ish but I have heard of some colossal $500+ ones, so don't be too hard on yourself.

well its not all me.....my landlady has moved down to wellington for work, but was here for part of it.......she used an electric blanket and left the towel rail in the bathroom on all the time. she also had this thing for putting the dehumidifier on ALL the time - even though we have HRV......? I also found out last night that my flattie leaves her oil radiator on ALL night on a low setting and she thought it wouldn't consume much energy cause it was on so low and on a thermostat.

a mate came over for a coffee at lunchtime, and suggested that we have it outside
"Outside", I said, "are you MAD"
"well it's a dam sight warmer out there than it is in here", He repiled

That's what I love about old NZ house's, like a fridge in winter and an oven in summer

Morning from sunny New Zealand

I am reliably informed by friends and family all around the UK that they are having a frostical time . It being mid Winter and all. Pals just moved to Switzerland are having snow time.

Here is where all weather freezy is reported.

A relly who lives up Norf on The Fells has been snowed in for days. No gritters have come their way, it being rural.

Friend down in Bournemouth sent me a pic of her teenage son's girly snow-woman , complete with 'normous boobs.
