Well half the UK believes that on a Buy-one-get-one-free, one is actually free

Shoppers are gullible the world over. But that's what retailers do...and some are very successful at it. This was sent to me by a friend in the UK, taken at ToysRus.

I've seen and tried some lovely pies chicken
And Kurmura, steak, Fish and others I can't think of in Countdown, the more expensive ones. I give them a miss now as they are yummy but full of calories

I was looking at something the other day and it was cheaper to buy 2/500 mil than 1 litre. This happens a lot it will say the large 1 is on offer.

Yeah, Countdown must really think we are all stupid.

Two weeks ago a 3 liter bottle of Citrus Tree Orange juice was $5.45

Last week it was $7.49 !!!!

And this week its back to $5.45, with a big yellow sticker saying "Reduced by $2" !!!

They're all full of tricks and they hope we'll all be in there looking for their hooks. They really do take us for a bunch of suckers and it is a very deliberate marketing ploy. It so pays to be aware of the prices of the stuff you regularly buy and just stock up big time when it is on a real special offer.

Pak n Save can be fantastic on their $5 weeks and you can stock up on all the bundled-up 2 or 3 for $5 type offers, but need to be mindful of all the other things that ordinarily are less than $5.00 that somehow have suddenly increased to $5

You're quite fortunate though the UK has taken the more up-front approach with price per unit / per 100g etc on the shelf for quite some time. At least that way it's quite obvious and easy to compare price of one item over another without needing to be a mathematician. We're only just beginning to see that sort of labelling being introduced.

While shopping today I noticed that they have put the price of a pack of mince up by $1.00 since last week
but they have now put a big SPECIAL sticker on the pack and people are buying it by the trolley load.
Are kiwis so brainwashed that they just clear the shelf of anything with a yellow sticker on it regardless of what it is and
without questioning the price. Also during the same trip I noticed that they are selling half a celery for EXACTLY the same price as a whole one
and most are walking past the UK foods section where they can buy British Hobnobs for less than the tasteless kiwi version
Talking of STUPID..why is in in NZ that you are charged MORE per gramme for a 1000gramme pack of something than you are for pack half its size. In the UK the bigger pack ALWAYS works out cheaper per gramme????
