Council Tax Rebate
Well, been in NZ almost 5 years & just had a nice letter from the UK.
Having tracked us down via our in-laws (Our UK bank accounts have their address) we are now in possession of a very nice cheque from our former UK borough council.
All to do with mis-bandings dating from 1991.
Worth looking into if you've been here a while like us!!

Wow that must have been a nice suprise! Which council if you don't mind me asking? I lived in Kent for a few years around 2000.

I got a letter out of the blue as well, now in the process of getting the refund back
I'm due nearly £800 back so it's worth looking into. Must admit it was a very nice surprise opening that letter...
By the way, mine is from Croydon Council

We lived in the East Mids, it was a great surprise, must be costing councils a fortune, ours is over a grand!!

Depends if you were mis-banded at all. Ours was wrong from 2000 until 2006 apparently.

Looking at one info site, I need to contact my old neighbour and double check what band he was and is in first. You never know your luck !
