Cost of living - Auckland
We're new to the forum and are awaiting our ITA - have possible job offer too. We need to know how much things cost over there.
Food
We have 3 boys (15,10 & 9) and I usually shop at Asda- my weekly bill averages around £140 - these boys eat for England! Fruit and meat are a large portion of the bill - does anyone have an on-line supermarket for NZ I could look at?
Doctors & Dentists
Also, doctors and dentists - over here we pay private for the dentist. Do they have the same over there - i.e do you see a doctor free but pay for your prescriptions?
Sports
My boys play water polo and do karate. Are there facilities which will accommodate these sports? Are there any swimming clubs the boys could join in Auckland?
Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks - New member.

Doubt there will be any shortage of clubs/activities your boys can participate in.
Doctors you pay (cost is indexed to your income level and you need to apply for a family medical card that you show each time you see a doctor).
Dentists I am unsure about. One thing though: Do make sure you get your welfare entitlements for the children. I'm not sure if it's now called child allowance or something but for many families it certainly helps the domestic finances. How much you get is again dependent on your gross income.
