I do not get this at all but that is me. It is groups of ten people, not friends.

I'd say it's her ill fated attempt at humour like mine.

Probably best not to go with a friend, if one gave the others Coronavirus it could put those friendships under considerable strain. Imagine having to contact everyone to work out who the source was.

No idea who she is but if she's one of the gallery of morons that ask the PM questions every day that would make sense, because she can only have nine friends if she wants to go out with them as well.

You're such a bugger. Hey, how did you go with getting refunds on your cancelled trip? I'm still working on mine, it's a slow process. The virus has caused so many cancellations that airlines/hotels/travel agents seem to be overwhelmed.

As appealing as a visit to Waitākere Hospital.

"On second thought I'll just drive across town to get someone to look at my broke arm."

I think therein is pretty telling - we've been bloody 'lucky' that there were not a lot more cases because it sounds like the hospitals simply would not have coped.

My list of last places on earth I'd rather be are: cruise ships, rest homes and hospitals and I'm not planning on going to any weddings anytime soon either.

Yes. It needs to be a bit understood about national capacity, availability , supplies and equipment. There will be a lag in the case of a plague but for here that lag was sorted short time. i am rather impressed.

Regardless of everything, I do feel fortunate being in the southern hemisphere at this time.

I'd also rather not be on any cruise ships anytime soon, although my mature aged change in career choice will have me in rest homes and people's homes eventually...😲

I watched the questions after today's announcement. What horror!

I had already decided to abandon spending any time or money on the vast majority of outlets these people work for so it will be nice to see them all collapse and die-out some improvements to the media landscape in the future. Obviously we are all able to lookup which ones of those firms are claiming wage-subsidy from the Government so I should probably do that.

It would be wrong to describe as any sort of fan of the current government, I didn't vote for them and am unlikely to in the future but I have been immensely impressed by both the effectiveness of the approach taken along with their ability to bring the country along to take steps that have been very painful to take.

But that was just part-one dealing with the immediate threat. Let's see how they cope with part two that will be economic fall-out followed by the ongoing threat.

Any government anywhere in the world is going to be more than hard pressed to deliver a budget and economic recovery package that will work well in a short term or even a medium term. I suppose much depends on what priorities are.
For me this lot have shown leadership and grit . Whilst taking tough decisions they have also re-examined and wound back a little if needs be. In the months and years ahead any country will need this. Flexibility to work with whatever there is left following the pandemic & the continuing world difficulties because of this.
I have not been heartened at all by the current opposition leadership & given this country will face unemployment, slump & shrinkage a good part of me feels you want the strong and brave rather than postulation , derision and rhetoric. I wouldn't vote to change a status quo in a time of turmoil ( anymore than I would advocate change after bereavement) unless it was remarkably clear that a current govt was lax & irresponsible - which they have not been - and an opposition had a very transparent clear cut set of policies to show an ability to springboard a country forward against all the global odds.
