And I'm saying this as an Australian. Who got given stick over moving to an earthquake zone by a friend.

Latest from Italy
govt have drawn up proposal to completely seel off the whole Lombardy region, plus a further 11 provinces around the country including Venice and Parma.
This will essentially put an end to our holiday plans. Leaving only one road route out of the country and not one we are particularly interested in . We'll still go to Rome but it's looking like we'll be flying out to another European city and trying to pick up from there

Absolute capitulation in the financial markets. It's really been a blood bath and strongly indicates people believe a recession is just around the corner without pretty immediate intervention by the government and reserve bank. What's interesting to me is how indiscriminate selling has been, from cyclicals to counter cyclicals, growth stocks to dividend stocks nothing has been spared.

Still filling up the car could get a little cheaper...if you've still got a gig to go to.

Young colleague of mine was off sick yesterday, came in this morning coughing her lungs up and with a mask on her face. Am I right to be livid about this? Mask or no mask, shouldn't she have stayed at home??

I've sent her packing, I don't want her coughing all over me all day.

Yes. You are right to be aghast. Whatever was she thinking?

Col. Have you considered postponing this trip for later in the year at all?
Seems to me that travel anywhere is going to be a bit of a pain in the bum.

Pom - We love Sri Lanka. Hope the trip is hassle and problem free.

yes we have. We are waiting until April to make a final decision on our May plans, but realistically, it's not going to happen. We are looking at later in the year but part of the holiday was a family reunion with my boys and brother and coordinating that with time off together is very difficult.
We are currently considering Japan in October, if things have improved, or planning the whole Italy thing again for next year.
It's annoying but it can't be helped
