I expect we'll all be on the search for some Black Market toilet paper or stabbing people for their stash before much longer - seems there is now a global shortage.

We were discussing stockpiling on the way home from school (there's mild hysteria in year 6 apparently) and my seven year old asked why would we need extra toilet paper so I asked him what is the one thing you wouldn't like to go without if you couldn't go to the shops... "Icecream"
Obviously.

My sister posted a meme on my facebook wall of a trolley full of wine.

She's got me worked out, only thing I'd buy πŸ˜‚

Flying back to Oz in 2 weeks for training, life's going on for me.

There now appears to be two variants of nCoV-19 with different symptom severity. The less severe form appears to be spreading faster (as you might reasonably expect.)

I'm more concerned about the possibility of disruption to holiday plans than catching it

You've just as much chance of catching it from someone you walk past in the street or supermarket as you have in an airport or on a plane, yet you're probably not giving going to work or shopping a second thought. You'll most likely catch it by sticking your hand into one of the holes in you head. Wash your hands and dont pick you're nose and you'll probably be ok

This is exactly what I've told myself.

I'm off to Sydney next Friday and I'm not worried about Covid 19 at all. It hasn't made me rethink anything that I do. As a trained midwife and a qualified home economist, I've always washed my hands correctly.
If I'm going to get the virus then I will get it despite the best hand hygiene. Hopefully I won't come into contact with it, unless I lock myself away for the next few months.
Yes some people will die from this illness but the majority won't. It's not the bubonic plague and even that didn't kill everyone off!!!
People really do need to get a grip. Unless you're elderly or have a pre-existing health issue that will make you more susceptible to the virus, then I wouldn't be worrying unnecessarily.

I'm only having a dig at the crazy Aussies being one myself. But they are crazy. Some bloke was tasered at a store in Tamworth..! My sister couldn't get loo paper in Brisbane or Gold coast when she went there today.

I have to go as I'm doing my Enrolled nursing through Oz and need to go back quite often for classes and practical. Course through Gold coast, 2 weeks every semester then work experience near my daughter on Central coast. I'm reasonably healthy and have no health conditions. .

Apparently people can't get paracetamol either. Lunatics..

Perhaps this is why the Aussies are panicking ….

Research by Australian National University lays out a range of virus outcomes

"The global death toll from coronavirus could reach as high as 15million even in the best-case scenario, a new study says".

As long as Rupert Murdoch is printing papers Australians should not struggle to find a way to clean their bottoms, offer that reporting the review it deserves and recycle all at once.

If people want paracetamol they should raid their emergency first aid kits.

Just kidding, they (we!) are lunatics

Husband and I are off in just over 5 weeks, travelling through Asia and Europe for 8 weeks. Timing's everything. Not at all worried about getting the virus, slightly worried about entry restrictions/quarantine/self isolation rules in the various countries as they change all the time (but what happens, happens), most worried about unknowingly passing the bugger on to people who are most at risk. A little bit of sensibly used PPE and some common sense will hopefully win the day.

we're supposed to be going back over to UK late June with a trip to Budapest then a stay over in Singapore for 5 days on the way back. Least from my understanding these countries are doing what WHO are suggesting about isolation. We can only hope that this is enough to stop the spread.

I'm a little concerned about the folks in export and tourism jobs, those businesses will be in the doldrums for a few months. These are good people and there's plenty of work that needs doing in New Zealand from fixing the roads to replanting native bush, on this one occasion it may be worth just setting fiscal targets aside to make sure that everyone who needs a job can find one.

I know I shouldn't laugh but I am about the tasering! And in Western Sydney there was a stoush over toilet paper in Woolies.!

Someone posted on a page I follow on Facebook that their local Countdown at New Brighton had empty shelves.

The local Countdown at Avonhead mall had plenty this morning. I've not stocked up, I'm not buying into the panic over loo rolls.
