Cool Britannia?

Cool Britannia?
Just back from a wee 5 week break in the USA/UK/Ireland/France/Hong Kong, and I noticed while walking past, that Cool Britannia on Tory St is closed and the shop empty?
Anyone know what happened? And is the one in Lower Hutt still open?

Re: Cool Britannia?
at least.. you can get Irn -bru at Nw,,,,,,, what else do you need?
I found it out last Tuesday - I too just back from long holidays
and discovered that it's closed .. while walking with my mate (Irish) on Taranaki St (on our way to Molly Malones). We were SO SURPRISED and disappointed. we stopped for a while front of the shop and talked about it. WHY they closed?? but my mate said Lower hutt one might open, so we visited there last Friday, surely they closed. certainly it doesn't make us happy. no. I presume it's cause NW having English sections...and Kirckadie sell all sorts of of British tea/ English sweets etc.
I used to buy Heintz Tomato ketchup, Baked Beanz, Tartar sauce,,, Ambrosia pudding... and a big size Jafa cakes. well. think I am going to order them from auckland. I hate Watties crap anyway.

Re: Cool Britannia?
Went to New World at Porirua today and my 7 year old was thrilled to buy a packet of Shreddies - his FAVOURITE cereal. My daughter bought a packet of fruit pastilles and a curly wurly - BLISS. Still, at least all creme eggs are imported from the UK this year so taste the same without the extortionate cost!
My son had shreddies for tea of course!

Re: Cool Britannia?
I've been craving Jaffa Cakes almost everyday since last month (This very rarely happens to me), however never managed to buy them... cos.. it's been showing out of stock for ...many weeks... today, I finally rang NW and yelled at them, will be back in stock (ever again) ? but they said, they have no idea...
been waiting for a month.. and I can't stand any longer...so... tomorrow, will order loads of them from auckland...as well as Walkers Crisps, and Heinz tomato ketchup ......... annoying as hell eh. I miss Cool Britannia!

Re: Cool Britannia?
Why would anyone go to live in a new country and still buy overpriced goods from their old home? Talk about not being able to let go!
Watties might be different to Heinz for sure but moving to a new country is about adapting! Whether it be with the climate or baked beans!

Re: Cool Britannia?
hey I seriously loooooooooooove Jaffa cakes... There is no alternative here unfortunately.
and Watties tomato sauce/baked beans - I can't tolerate them well... they are sugary.....or vinegary.
I love Heinz tomato sauce with chips or french toasts...........
You are right, but overpriced goods from old home are available here anyhow,, so why not? I make money... to spend.. can do whatever I like! .....I've got no hubby or kids.............haha
