Default Converting UK Plugs

Well the container has finally turned up, and as the unpacking is in full swing I looked at all the UK 4 plug adapters I'd packed and wondered do I put a 10amp plug or 15 amp plug on the end for when I plug things into it! Any ideas? 10 or 15?

Stick whatever you like in there, but keep whatever you plug into it fitted with correctly rated fuses.
As long as something can pop, be it fuse or house breakers, you'll be fine.
Why not just change everything to kiwi plugs, makes life easier.......but they DO seem just wrong!!!

Simon

Having bought the warehouse out of NZ plugs twice now(without getting a bargain - try advance electrical one near you in Porirua) the only thing to do is convert and spend a couple of happy evenings sorting them all out. It did stop all the fun of the hunt for the spare adaptor and look at all the spaghetti games but it is the only way to go. Try Dick Smith for electrical adaptors if you dont fancy chopping the ends off moulded plugs.

See you Saturday

Mark

Converting UK Plugs
3 Hail Marys and some incense might do the trick.

(Sorry, could not resist that one)

15 amp plug tops fit 15 amp sockets - not standard 10 amp sockets (the earth pin is wider!).
anyone ever seen a 15 amp socket? I've asked this before on another thread and never got a response so I am genuinely interested.
Please also dont use NZ-UK plug top adapters for any length of time or for earthed appliances - again <search> is your friend.
Better to buy a NZ low voltage transformer for those small gizmos if you must but I prefer sticking a Kiwi plug top on my 4-ways for all those chargers, etc

just watch out for the UK appliances that are rated at >10 amps. Some kettles, heaters, irons, etc that are more than 2.4kW.
If you do get it wrong expect the odd tripped breaker or blown fuse - we get that if the tuble dryer and dishwasher go on using the same circuit (2 different twin sockets in the laundry) - we use a trailing lead to overcome that one.
