Container purchase and shipping uk to nz
Has anyone actually bought a container and shipped it from the UK to NZ? I’m keen to use a 20 ft container as storage so it makes sense to kill two birds with one stone. Looking for a company that can help with this

Re: Container purchase and shipping uk to nz
would you have to contact the actual shipping company themselves rather than an international moving company...🤔
Never heard of anyone doing it that way. I'm sure there are all manner of insurances and structural requirements for the container that have to be met. Are the ones that are usually for sale those that are no longer suitable for use ??
would be interested to see how costs compare

Re: Container purchase and shipping uk to nz
Obvious, but have you asked around the NZ ports?
Containers in the UK are relatively cheap because the UK imports far more than it exports so many containers go back empty. So there is a cost to the shipper to send the containers back.
Containers are often used for storage in the UK and also often converted to temporary accommodation.
Then again Christchurch has containers used for shops in the centre so it is not unknown in NZ.
So it may be more cost effective to allow a shipping company to manage the risks of transferring your property then buy a container in NZ.
