Wink container insurance

Hi ya

How do you feel about container insurance? the top cover for us with Pickfords is about 2K

Hells bells!!!!!!!

This is almost half what the thing is costing in the first place, then we have itemised stuff, then one where if the whole lot is lost overboard then we get a pay out.

Just wondering what you all did, do you risk it? or is the itemised one good enough?

Oh and BTW we have managed to secure a holiday rental! that will accept the dog and the kids!

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Anna (still slightly shocked!!)

you don't have to use theirs. Get other quotes.

We used John Mason to ship our stuff and took their insurance only coz they priced matched Letton Percival who were the cheapest at the time.

Call an insurance broker. Better cover cheaper. I work in the industry and can help if you want.

We had to estimate how much all our items cost and I think the insurance was a few percent of the estimated cost so I under valued a lot of the stuff and hardly paid anything.

we insured only the most expensive items. Our shippers broke stuff whilst putting it into the container and stuff was broken in transit! When we made a claim they wiggled out of it and generally made it so hard that in the end we gave up. The whole process was fraught is distress.

My advice READ everything, get other quotes and READ the small print!

before submitting quote make sure know how much things over here are or a good idea. be a complete waste of money if you under insure then need to claim.

Definately agree with that advice. Do your research first as plenty of things cost quite a lot more in NZ
