confusing parcel postage rates
I'm sending a few items back to the uk for my son.
I checked the postal rates for the sizes of a couple of boxes I have floating about at home, both will be the same wieght
How can the smaller box (aprox only 2/3 of the size) be around $80 more expensive to send than the bigger box

weight?

If it's not the weight, and it's not that you've calculated it incorrectly, then you must be comparing different types of postage - air mail with sea mail, for example.
NZ has some funny ideas, but they don't charge more postage for less stuff.

I used to work for a courier firm , Is the smallest box a strange shape ? They go on how many they fit in and cubic volume along with weight etc , However that is uk not NZ . Generally square boxes are the cheapest , strange i know .

I suspect, although I'm not sure, that there are two rates - letter and parcel. The larger one has slipped into the parcel rate which is priced by weight, the letter is priced by size.
