confusing parcel postage rates
I'm sending a few items back to the uk for my son.
I checked the postal rates for the sizes of a couple of boxes I have floating about at home, both will be the same wieght How can the smaller box (aprox only 2/3 of the size) be around $80 more expensive to send than the bigger box :confused: |
Re: confusing parcel postage rates
 weight?

Re: confusing parcel postage rates
If it's not the weight, and it's not that you've calculated it incorrectly, then you must be comparing different types of postage - air mail with sea mail, for example.
NZ has some funny ideas, but they don't charge more postage for less stuff. |
Re: confusing parcel postage rates
nope, same weight and same service.
only thing I change on the cost calculator are the box dimensions, bigger box = cheaper ?? |
Re: confusing parcel postage rates
I used to work for a courier firm , Is the smallest box a strange shape ? They go on how many they fit in and cubic volume along with weight etc , However that is uk not NZ . Generally square boxes are the cheapest , strange i know .

Re: confusing parcel postage rates
I suspect, although I'm not sure, that there are two rates - letter and parcel. The larger one has slipped into the parcel rate which is priced by weight, the letter is priced by size.
