Mum passed away this morning.
I phoned AirNZ to book flights. 0800 737 000
I can now confirm that they will offer discounted flights in economy class if you can produce a copy of either the death certificate or a letter from an undertaker. This can also be done as a refund if produced later.
I'm booked in premium though, no discounts are offered, but not really a great concern. They do however, make a note on your booking, so extra options such as seat choice are accomodated for.
Thought it would be handy to let you all know this is standard policy for them, and I would like to thank them for their assistance.

Sorry to hear about your mum. Air New Zealand helped us out too when we had a problem.

I am very sorry to read that your Mum has passed away Steve. You have my sympathy for the sad times ahead and the difficult journey you must make.

Thank you for even thinking to let us know about the AirNZ help in this situation.

When I had to do this last year, Air Singapore sat me by myself for the flight. I didn't have to queue to check in luggage. I was taken straight to the first available check-in desk . Someone was waiting for me as I arrived into the airport.

Thank heavens for these small considerations from the airlines at times like this.

I do hope you have as good a journey as you can Steve & that all the arrangements go well for your final goodbye to your Mum.

Sorry for your loss, thanks for taking the time to let people know of the service you recieved from Air NZ (and Singapore too Bev).Not a side I have really thought about in making my decision to move.

Hard journey to make for you. Hope the arrangements go well

Like everyone else has wrote, thanks for letting us know that the airlines will help you when things like this happen. Its so thoughtful of you to let others know when I'm sure you have a lot on your mind.
