Seriously why is this an issue for you? There is a group of us who meet regularly in wellington for a coffee, it's nice to meet other expats, it's nice to extend that to anyone who needs some friendship and support. When we first arrived here we had a huge amount of support offered to us from some of the expat community. Nobody is doing the "big bro thing" - the people we meet are all adults and don't need a big bro - get over yourself.
