Re: Christmas Traditions
Gifts are not opened until the late afternoon or evening. Certainly not until after the Christmas meal. This is because when I was growing up my Dad always worked Christmas Day so not home until the afternoon.
Gifts are opened in turn, one at a time to be appreciated and savoured and is not something to be done in a hurry . Exception to this is a child's Christmas stocking of small items . Those should be opened Christmas morning. |
Re: Christmas Traditions
Presents opened in the morning because we are common.
Each one opened and savoured before the next person opens their present. Well, when I was little anyway. It's noticeable that Christmas Day traditions i.e presents and food etc etc have not changed with us just because we're overseas. Will I be at home for Christmas ? No, I'll be in New Zealand. Anyway, in keeping with the spirit of the thread, here we go: Bucks fizz with breakfast (that's a mixture of champagne and orange juice). Scrambled egg and salmon with toast. Then we open presents Put the chicken on to roast Shower and change Finish preparations for lunch then serve it and eat it. More Tidy up after eating. Let lunch settle. Go for a walk. Come home and just chill. Then it'll be tea time, then switch the t.v. on. We used to play board games whilst eating chocolate all afternoon when I was a kid. Bliss. |

Re: Christmas Traditions
It's nice to take some quiet time to reflect on Christmases I've with family who aren't around any more and have a quiet drink to them.
