Christchurch, Please Help.....

Re: Christchurch, Please Help.....
Ive had two winters in Christchurch. The first one was cold, unseasonally cold as told to me by the locals. It snowed and we had some very chilly nights and mornings and I did wear my coat. The last summer was great. We had a few frosty mornings and a little bit of rain but nothing compared to a UK winter. Who knows what next year will bring. Canterbury did not get the rain they hoped for during winter and now we have had a very warm summer, quite a few days in the 30c's (i have the sunburn to prove it) and the local council are now talking about taking measures to save water, ie hosepipe bans etc....

I am the first to say that NZ has better weather, it is not my opinion it is a fact but to say that a south island (Canterbury ) winter is the same as a Scottish summer is just not true, in every respect. A Scottish summer for example might be wetter but there is NO way that there will be frost.

Hey Guys
Thanks for all of your replies.
Basically ChCh has better weather than the UK, thats just a bonus.
ChCh sounds more like a town than a city.
ChCh is easy to get around.
ChCh is not for everybody.
ChCh is close to sandy beaches with skiing accessable.
Sounds worth a shot!
Cheers Jads

Hawkes bay (napier) Quite Small, no sandy beach and one hell of a road to get there! (loveley wineries)
Whangarei-Nice small town, quite long drive to nearest beach.
BOP (tauranga) Expensive houses on small plots, quite industrial (reminded me of some parts of america).
Rotorura-Smelly!
Thats some opinions of the places we visited.
Now just LEAVE 'THE WEATHER'!
Cheers Jads
