Default christchurch for kids

Hi, not sure if in the right thread (sorry if not). Can anyone tell me what Christchurch is like for kids. We like the look of the city but wanted to know if its very quiet or if there is plenty for kids to do. Also what are the schools like. We have a 10 year old and a 7 year old.

Any advice etc greatly appreciated.

Hi there - you could do with moving this to main forum - perhaps the mods will do this for you
we are in chch and have a 6yr old and 4yr old - there is plenty to do depending of course on what they like - loads of sports, leisure centres, swimming pools, indoor soft play areas, well maintained outdoor play parks, places to go cycling with bmx tracks, science alive, airforce museum, wildlife parks, indoor rock climbing, play areas attached to McD's, beaches, walking tracks, movies, crazy golf, lazer strike, maze, after school activities: gym, ballet, dance, judo, cubs/scouts, brownies, ski fields are only 1hr away, ice skating etc etc
re:schools - very much depends on where you live but there's a good range - you will be looking at primary and/or intermediate (not all primary's are full primary so the children go to intermediate for the last 2 years) - you can go to the ero website and read up the inspection reports. schools have decile ratings - these are a reflection of the socio-economic status of the school not necessarily a reflection of how good they are - decile 1 schools are in the poorest areas and decile 10 the wealthiest areas (very loosely!!!!)
we love chch - hope you find somewhere to settle
Vicki
