Default Christchurch job market up 81% on a year ago

For those tradesmen overseas thinking about Christchurch, and are willing to put up with a bit of uncertainty regarding possible aftershocks, now may be the time to start looking. I heard on the radio this morning trademe is reporting an 81% increase in jobs advertised for Christchurch on a year ago. They're especially wanting painters and plasterers which are in dire shortage and they say they need people from overseas. Generally the whole construction industry is in shortage, it seems, including architects and the like.

Yeah saw several articles saying the same thing. I can see why people are thinking about going, theres not much work here especially in construction. Most of the jobs are temporary.

We're still undecided about moving
