Actually that is even funnier!
Christchurch Airport responded to the video quick-smart, assuring travellers that the baggage was not 'unclaimed' at all, and was actually donated for a trial of a new baggage handling system installed at the airport, according to airport communications manager Monique Oomen.

I think it's hilarious that the CEO of Christchurch Airport has no sense of humour and took offence. However, there's still no excuse for trashing 600 or so serviceable bags into the back of a dustcart like that. What is worse, anyone who saw the video in it's full glory will have seen that they were full and heavy cases; full of paper we're told.
