China Eastern
Just looking for flights back to the UK for a trip next summer. Has anyone flown China Eastern? I had found an Air NZ/China Eastern for $2,400. It's a really long flight 47h but as its only me should be manageable. Anyone done this route?
Thanks

47 hours, you gotta be joking !!
I'd rather spend a few hundred bucks more and get a decent flight with a reputable airline.

That gives you a 24 hour stopover, so you could spend a day in china having a bit of a look around, sleep in a hotel. Just remember to factor in cost of visa, hotel, sightseeing food etc. the alternative is to spend 24 hours in the airport which would be pretty hard going. Might be worth paying a few hundred more For a straight thru flight.

Maybe try some of the fares from Australia, they have Early Bird fares on Emirates for example for $1500AUD. Even with a $4-500 trans-Tasman fare it may work out better.

Thanks for the replies. When I told hubby it was 47 hours he looked at me as if I were insane. Will pay the extra and go straight through.

Early bird discounts will probably be coming out soon. So maybe hold your nerve and set up email alerts to take advantage .

I think Air New Zealand have some early bird discounts available now. Worth checking out.

Depends if they put you in an Hotel for a night? I just did 42 hours with Korean Air back to the UK and had a fantastic stopover at the Hyatt Regency Incheon just 5 mins from Airport. Great room, amazing food and met some lovely people as a bonus. Sometimes it can be worth it!!

47 hours - hmmm no thanks! Also - China Eastern and China Southern are offering a lot of cheapo international flights at the moment but IMHO I would always say its worth paying $100-200 more to go with one of the more well known airlines in terms of service, safety, food, in-flight entertainment, cabin comfort - the whole shebang. I did a couple of internal flights in china with chinese airlines and it was certainly an experience.
I dont think you get the same sort of service as the other large long haul airlines.
I'm trying to book flights at the moment to go back March 2013. Air NZ have just released some cheap flights - looking about $2400-2500.
