children who had cancer - what happens with their medical checks?
Hi
Has anybody had their application approved with a child who successfully finished treatment for cancer? My eldest daughter who is 4 finished her treatment in march for Leukemia and is remission and consultant has given a letter saying she has a 90% full recovery. She doesnt receive any sort of treatment - just a monthly check up which will become every second month and then eventually every 6 months.
We have had our EOI selected from the pool and are awaiting to hear if it is successful, just want to know what we are in stall for our medicals to get all our paperwork in order. Just wondering if there is anybody who has had a similar experience either personally or with their kids and what the outcome was.
thanks!

I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid, I just wanted to wish you luck and to "bump" this thread up in the hope someone else may know the answer.

mariac,
You should try putting this question in the 'immigration' forum, that's where it belongs and where you'll have the best chance of getting it answered by someone who knows about these things...
(Monitors: I'm surprised this question hasn't been moved yet...??)

The figure of NZ$25k has been mentioned as the guideline for on-going care costs...the NZIS website does have all the details buried in the small print if you look.
You probably will get referred but that doesn't mean you won't ultimately be accepted. The sort of categories I understand they always refuse are people on kidney dialysis etc etc ....I honestly don't know what the prevailing view would be on recovering from childhood cancer.
You should however be aware that Wellington region has had difficulty attracting cancer specialists (see Dominion Post articles on subject) and Wellingtonians have had to travel to Auckland instead. They did recruit someone from Germany I think after several months but haven't read any more on the subject in the press recently.
Best wishes to you all and especially to your daughter for a 100% recovery.
