Childcare for Teens??
Hi all,
Just curious as to where or if there are anything for teenagers during the school holidays when parents are at work?
I have 3 kids, 9, 11 and 14 the younger two can go to after school clubs where they have activities on all day, but I can't seem to find any clubs for the teens.
Any ideas? would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't found anything for teens, there is a new multi sports centre just opened so maybe they will put something on in the school holidays
Many of them go to the skate park and in summer a lot of them work
Hope this helps

Sorry can't speak for NZ these days, but that age group is a problem generally as they don't like to do all the kids stuff they use to. Getting a holiday job is probably a good idea. Keeps them off the streets and they will benefit from the experience.
When I was 16 (a LONG time ago ) I worked at Camp Adair in Hunua which was a YMCA (I think) camp for kids. Leaders were 16+ and Junior Leaders 14+. They do it for free, but they have a great time and you get some fantastic experience working with kids. There might be similar things in your area that they can volunteer for as coaches etc. Camps, leisure clubs, YMCA, that sort of thing. The one I was at was residential!

There are school holiday things for teens but these are often dismissed as "lame"! I know that the YMCA does them...or they can be left home alone at 14 officially
