Could anyone please tell me how much child care costs are for a one year old.

Re: Child care costs

My 4yo daughter attends a private daycare from 7.30am to 5.30pm and the charge is $160 a week (including food, but not including nappies).

However, because she's over 3, she applies for 20 hours free which brings the charge down to $95.

After school care is charged at $60 for keeping them in the school hall between 3 and 6pm.

In all of this, have a look here http://www.workandincome.govt.nz/get...r-subsidy.html to see if you qualify for assistance with costs.

Do you get the 20 hours free childcare regardless of your salary?
If so, oh my god. I currently pay around £200 per week for my (nearly) 3 year old in a private nursery here in the UK!! What I'll lose in the wages in NZ, I'll gain on the childcare costs!

yep and depending upon income you can also get more including OSCAR, afterschool/holdiay care for older kids - check out the link from dlmckay (who is a mine of information)
of course you need the right permit to get benefits and will have to wait a mo (or 3!) for WINZ to assess on the other stuff!

Just beware that not all daycare providers offer the 20hrs free - it's optional
My daughter attends a private daycare 7.30 - 5.30, 5 days per week and its $150 not including food.
If it applies, we got a discount when my son was also there.
Cheers
