Does anyone know of any newish developments or property in the Auckland area which are especially good value or have been drastically reduced?

I have heard that prices of some new apartment blocks may have been dramatically cut due to an over supply situation?

We really do not like renting so are interested in buying something inexpensive for our family to move into when we come to NZ for a year or 2 whilst we decide exactly where we want to live etc..

Yep, you could probably get a good deal on an apartment in Auckland - the problem would be in the 'year or 2' when you want to sell it. There's just too many now. A lot of developers who'd already got consent for apartments are now changing to hotels etc. Houses are still the best value.
