Chch October picnic?

Re: Chch October picnic?
Well guys, there's nothing stopping you from organising one now is there....?
<chants> Dusty's sorting a pub crawl! Dusty's sorting a pub crawl! </c>
I would of course organise one myself, but having failed to turn up to the last one I organised - or in fact to tell anyone else about it - I'll leave that carry on to the experts.
Sorry to nick the picnic thread peeps. To get back on topic, we're looking forward to it, wherever, and whenever it may be.

suggested places:
hagley park south
sumner

Re: Chch October picnic?
Thanks Joshlin,
We are in the midst of house buying, so have been a little distracted this last week!
Righteo .. I'm liking the Sunday suggestion, although with 2 small kiddies can we make it 2pm (as I'd like to think they'll be ready for bed at 6.30pm )?
We live about 30mins north of CHCH .. so we'd prefer no-where too far south ....

Re: Chch October picnic?
so sunday 26th it is, halswell quarry, 2pm, picnic / bbq - bring whatever you would eat rather than trying to organise a big shared meal.
if we all come in via kennedys bush road entrance (rather than cashmere rd entrance) and then meet up on the grassed area in front of the first area of car parking.
we can then move over towards the bbq's which I think are slightly set back to the right from the grassed area if I remember rightly.
I'll bring some balloons by way of markers and i'll try to get there on time!!!
how's that??
look forward to seeing / meeting then

Unfortunately, Kidbrooke St is about as far the other side of ChCh to Halswell as it's possible to be without camping in the Pacific You could easily taxi but it will take about 30 minutes plus, and cost abound $50 each way. If keen on making it along then have a look for camper places along Main South Road as that is not far at all. I think there may even be a Halswell campsite which could be worth looking into. After a google I found http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/listi...istingId=14134 or even better could be http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/listi...istingId=17323 as it is on Lincoln Road (almost) and that goes directly to Halswell. It's also the Hagley Park side of the city which is pretty handy.
Otherwise why not just drive the camper down with all aboard? It's easy to find, just drive down Lincoln Road to Halswell, keep on going through Halswell and what seems to be out the other side, and then the quarry is well signposted on your left hand side.
Look forward to seeing you, and good luck.
