Chariot Racing
Well harness racing apparently as the Kiwis call it but in my view, it's chariot racing
With the weather being a bit hit and miss yesterday, we decided to go to Rangiora yesterday for a bit of chariot racing
Now I really cannot get the excitement that chariot racing gives. Seeing horses trot round with a cart attached is something i'd expect to see in the 1940's ploughing seasons.
The event didn't have that same sort of enthusiasm that normal horse racing has. I've been to a couple of events at Riccarton racecourse and whilst not the same as a Newmarket, Ascot meeting - it was very enjoyable. Here it didn't have that feel to it.
A lot of the punters left after the main event, the Amberley cup which surprised me. I was a bit surprised with the amount of races there were, 12 races in a meeting? Hmmm, I prefer a day out with 6 or 7 races, 12 was a lot. We got there a bit late and only did races 6-10 which was more than enough for us. 12 is too many in my opinion and I don't think I'd have a full day out there, especially when the sun is beaming down
Anyone else experienced chariot racing?

Re: Chariot Racing
We've been to the harness racing a couple of times up here in Nelson. I find the whole trotting thing a bit frustrating . Much rather see the horses galloping.
We know an older couple that used to own and harness race horses. Seems there was quite a bit of match fixing going on back in the day........

I don't get harness racing at all. Seems a bit slow. BUT I encourage it as the riders (?) get bad backs and have to come and see me in my clinic.
