Celebrate Good Times ... ish
Just had to quickly post about this being our 12 month anniversary in New Zealand!!
All happy, all fandabidozie ...
We aren't sat in Orbit restaurant at the top of the Sky Tower in Auckland quaffing Bolly as planned ...
... I'm just back from the hospital, Hubby there tonight.
13 year old daughter broken leg ...
Level of care she has received has been amazing, I'll post more tomorrow.
And a huge thank you to our ex-pats family who have provided a never ending stream of calls, texts and even supper .. you all know who you are and we really appreciate it.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, hope she is home safely with you soon.
The celebrations can wait I guess but "well done" on weathering the first year in such style! Hope you have many more

Hi
So sorry to hear about your daughter, Liz told me about it. Wondered why you were missing for the jolly jaunt!!!!!!!!!!
If there`s anything I can do for you, PLEASE just ask. Even if its getting some milk and bread.
One year, congrats. Have a few glasses at the weekend.
See you soon

As I say, the level of care she received in Tauranga hospital was fantastic. We are so often quick to criticise and slow to praise in this day and age, so I really wanted to make a point of letting people know how impressed we have been.
She was taken from school to A & E by St. John's ambulance, and I arrived about 10 minutes after her. She was escorted by a friend from school. When I got there she was hysterical with the help of gas and air, laughing one minute, crying the next. She was seen straight away by the Senior House officer and a nurse. Given a morphine injection and then seen by the Orthopedic Consultant. Then x-rayed, seen by the consultant again and then put in to a temporary plaster of paris from toes to mid-thigh. More morphine and then up to a ward. She arrived at A & E about 2:40pm and was in a bed in the ward probably around 5pm.
The next day she was seen by the consultant again about 8am. By 10am she was in her fibre glass cast, had been x-rayed again, re-seen by the consultant and back in the ward. By midday the physio had been with some crutches and a quick trial run! They came back at 3:30pm for another "lesson". At 4pm a "Home Help" type physio came and asked about the layout at home etc and the next day provided us with a wheelchair with leg support, a shower stool and a couple of grab rail type things for the loo, in addition to the crutches!
It's been a hell of a week, but made so much more bearable by our experience at the hospital and our friends' help and concern here.
Credit where credit's due!

Conrats on 1 year in NZ, glad to hear your daughter is on the mend
From reading your posts over the past year you have always been really positive & upbeat about everything in NZ, just shows that an 'up for it' attitude is half the battle to success!!
Cheers Jads
