Catteries in Auckland

The shocks keep on arriving here!

I e-mailed Airpets to clarify a point or two and they had dropped the ball!

They only quoted me for 2 days boarding prior to the flight. £3242 (or £790 extra) for 60 days boarding!!!

There are words for that, which I shall not mention.

I just e-mailed them quering the cost of 1 night boarding (600, ok, local cattery is £10/night for 2 cats so comparable, but 800???) and to ask how they do the medical checks (poop, frontline and special worming) if my cats are with me (As per their first quote) cos the medical things are done 2 weeks before they pick them up!!!

Also asked Golden Arrow for a quote. Well, written a letter and am posting tomorrow. Will look round online and get other quotes too, but I need the medical assistance bit some offer.

:frown: Not happy about that price increase, but want to take the boys. Simple thing is I cannot afford £3242. £2452 is stretching it loads! May be able to ship them for a weeks boarding and final tests (Hopefully under £2500) cos that means I can fly and arrange a cattery place in Auckland while I travel and look for work (I would visit often!).

May be better that way..... Dunno. My Dad still wants me to put them in a sack and drown them though!

No chance of that happening however. I assure you of that.

I am about to do a google search, but does anybody know anything about catteries in NZ? My worst case plan is this: I keep cats with me and they go in for 2 days boarding with Airpets (Or whoever). I fly the next day. That gives me 1 day in NZ to find cattery for them, which should be able to meet me at the airport and take them to the place and I would visit them there. That be important as I would have no form of transport!!

What to do. What to do. Any suggestions anybody?

Thanks, Gizzy.

Found them and top of the list was..... Pinky's Pet Boarding. I just had to laugh at that!

Just a sideline question here. Medical check wise, is it just the 2x poop checks, frontline, 2x wormings & vaccinations for Feline Enteritis and Feline Flu that are required along with paperwork? I ask because in needing to keep costs down I was thinking of e-mailing the NZ Embassy and asking them what I needed to do for cats and doing it through my vet. That would save me £800 ish (Jets 4 Pets quoted £800/cat for the flight, pickup and container and so on).

Dunno..... So many options here! :( They don't make these things easy do they?
