Caribbean food
Is there any shops or restuarants in NZ that cater for those who like caribbean food such as Jamaican cuisine?

Re: Caribbean food
Can't say I ever saw any, I had quick look at
http://www.dineout.co.nz/restaurant_search.php
and the nearest I could find were a handful of Cajun or Creole places.

I went to a festival this year and they were selling jerk chicken etc...that's the only time though. There are not that many migrants of afro caribbean descent here really

Hi Perry
The seasonings need to make jerk are all available in NZ......I've just had a look at woolworths online. Not sure whether you can get scotch bonnet peppers but you should be able to get some really hot ones...or grow them yourself.
I was really surprised what seasonings you can get....such as moroccan, tuscan, thai, portugese. I should imagine the moroccan would be lovely

Well there are quite a lot of black South African and Zimbabwean in Auckland and any number of shops that caters for South Africans, so perhaps you can find some ingredients in those type of shops. Browns Bay has a SA Deli / Butchers that sells all the biltong and boerwars etc

There's quite a few SA shops that are worth a look for Brits too, as they often have brands that are familiar, such as Knorr soups and stock cubes.

Vive le difference, that website has 102 products listed as female deodorant, compared with your average new Zealand shop.

I've heard tell of people buying scotch bonnets, and there is an ethiopian shop in avondale that's meant to be great.
