Hey there,

I'm 99% sure the answer here is NO. My neice just visited from Oz for xmas. She had bought a one way ticket with the intention of buying the return one over here once she had been paid again. When she went to check in at Sydney, she was told there was no way NZ immigration would allow her in without a return ticket.
Hope that helps and I'm ready to stand corrected. You need PR to come in on a one way ticket-thats how we arrived.

True, Brits get an automatic 6 month visa but you have to have an onward ticket if you do not have PR. Think lots of people buy an onward to Oz as it's cheaper

Hi

Yes they're right to say being British you can stay for 6 months on a visitor visa but there is a requirement to have return flight arrangements in most cases for both visitor and work visas. There's the odd exclusion shown in the links below but generally they stick to the requirement unless you have PR.

Have a look at http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i7921.htm (re visitor visa) and http://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/i7921.htm (re work visa)

Good luck.

Nope, think you actually need the onward ticket in your possession before you leave UK to fly in to NZ. Carriers won't risk getting any flack about it either. The 6 month visa bit is true though!

Are you paying someone / agent for this? If so you are being ripped off.

Anyone , but anyone at all from the UK can enter on a 6 month visitors visa provided they have no police records etc. You need a return ticket or at least to show onward passage to somewhere else.

If you have a work visa in the pipeline , then wait for that and then you can buy a one way ticket. Once here , it converts to a permit.

If you have a work visa in your passport then you can buy a one way ticket.

I can't see why you would travel before the work visa is issued. You cannot work until you have the work visa anyway.
