Can you get an NZ tax refund?
Just a heads up folks - if you have been in NZ and paying tax but weren't working for the whole of the last tax year (for example, OH started working in Oct '06), check if you are able to claim back some tax contributions. According to hubby, we should get some dosh back from the IR!!!

Just wanted to update you all - we got a refund of $3000 + so was well worth while!!! Put a big note in your diary for next April!!

we did this in uk before we left,and recieved 2 cheques from inland revenue a month after arriving....so its worth claiming that to before you leave uk....jacky

Simon, you can just show up at the IRD with your number and they'll just process everything for you if it's not necessary for you to find out immediately how much your refund will be.

I got one last year as started working in may 2006...not much but a little, have applied for one for hubby as he has gone to oz but only just sent of that as he finished in december and went to oz in feb for new job...so we wait on that one
