campervan hire

hi,just wondering if anyone had experience of campervan hire ... my son is rowing in the MAADI cup down in Twizel this year and i was going to hire a campervan and travel down and stay the week as accomm in the area is fully booked ... but was wondering do i have to park the van on an official campsite or can i park up anywhere to sleep overnight ... just don't know what the rules and regs are here ... any advice would be great ... cheers.

Stay on a site, less hassle and not expensive.

'Freedom' (people who dont stay on sites) campers down here have got a really bad reputation down here recently due to the damage, mess and general pain in the bum they have become.

hi ... yes i have read about the rubbish issues, but i would be totally clean and environmentally friendly .. it is just that with 2000 rowers + parents etc at the MAADI i will find it almost impossible to get a site so was wondering if it is ILLEGAL or ok to just park up somewhere ... many thanks ...

Then I would check with the local council, some areas it is not allowed, others you might be ok.
