Cambridge - after school care availability
Hello,
Am moving family to Cambridge over the next couple of months, am interested in what families do for after school care while parent works. What are the options in Cambridge East?
Thanks

If you're looking at Primary, Cambridge East Primary has an after school care programme and have started a morning programme too. Check out their website. You will need to be In Zone to get a place at the school.

Cambridge east is just Cambridge.
www.cambridgeeast.school.nz this is the middle school
Cambridge primary do a scheme
Also look at Bunnies and I would check out Cambridge Elim
Elim are a church based organization but don't hold that against them
they are very community orientated
Google search
After school care, Cambridge nz
You might want to check out the local paper which is available online
Its a great way to get a feel for the town before you arrive
and there's always ads for everything you might need in there

Re: Cambridge - after school care availability
There are three primary schools in the town of Cambridge itself: Cambridge East primary, Cambridge primary, and Leamington Primary. The first is right in the suburb of Cambridge East, the second is right in the centre of town, and the third is at the far end of town in the suburb of Leamington. The first two are very close to each other other. Both offer after school care and I know Cambridge Primary does breakfast club but not sure about Cambridge East.
Cambridge Middle School is a whole different school as it is a middle school but generally used as an intermediate by most families (I.e. Years 7 and 8) unless they have a good reason to think the kid would benefit from a more home room approach for years 9 and 10 when more kids head to Cambridge High School. Both the high and the Middle are in the suburb of Cam East.
There are also two semi-rural primary schools that are close to town and include part of Cam East in their zone and therefore have a bus service - Hautapu (hoe taa poo) and Goodwood. Hautapu primary and Goodwood both have after school clubs and there is also a play place in town that is OSCAR approved and you can drop them there for breakfast and they take the kids to school in their own mini bus and can collect them again afterwards and oversee home work etc. Ask the schools about their breakfast and after school arrangements. These two semi-rural primaries are high decile schools that are spacious and very well resourced. Hautapu is a full primary meaning you can avoid using the middle school, which has a mixed reputation, as the kids stay for years 7 and 8.
