Calling UK - say no to 0870
A post by Lardyl just reminded me of this site:
It will give you geographic numbers as substitutes for lots of 0870, 0845 etc numbers in UK. This will save you a bundle if you're calling from NZ. Also worth using from UK if yo have a free local/national calls package with your phone.
Another great thing about NZ - no 0870/0845 numbers, and free local calls

On the subject of calling the UK, I'd strongly reccomend you get a calling card.
"Ki-ora" calling card for example, charge 3.8c (about 1.5p) a minute for calls to the UK which compares very well with Telecom's 49c

and pick one where your access number is toll free - used one in the past for dial-up access where we paid almost 50c a minute to access the card (before we realised that Auckland was not a local call!!)
