Default Call to prayer and two minute silence at 1.30pm today.

New Zealand will be broadcasting the Islamic call to prayer at 1.30pm today - Friday - and observe a two minute silence in ceremonies to mark a week since the Christchurch attacks.

It matters not whether one agrees with this method to mark the murdering atrocity. It matters the nation's unity.

I don't pray. I have no religion at all. I can certainly spent two minutes showing respect.

Just to say, from thousands of miles away, that the way New Zealand is handling this is exemplary, from the new weapons policy, to the words and actions of the country's leaders, to the ordinary people rising to the occasion.

Thank you for showing how it's done.

Doesn't seem to be any different to the way Manchester dealt with the terrorist attack they suffered
