Buying on Ebay from NZ
Hi,
Has anyone any experience on buying on Ebay from NZ?
Have my eye on some really cheap golf clubs , if I bought them here at the golf warehouse they would cost $800!

In my experience there are seldom many E-bay traders who can be bothered with international post and if they do, you may well change your mind when you factor in the postage costs, GST & import charges. I have bought stuff from Aussie e-bay with no trouble, just have to be sure about the rep of the trader, as you would anywhere.

Do you have anyone in UK that could buy for you? My very first purchase many years ago was a dive meter for my cousin. Still worked out cheaper to buy in UK and send out to Auckland. Good luck x

It might be better to check with the seller about international courier costs. It could work out cheaper sending to you that way.

I have ordered off both ebay UK and ebay US, and not had an issue.
But never anything quite as big as golf clubs to be honest.
Have you thought about getting them in the UK and getting friends or family to courier them to you.
We just had a big box of parcels arrive at our gate (in the middle of Canterbury) that had been picked up only last week from Scotland. Arrived from Scotland, and apparently it was really cost effective (compared with Royal Post). Sorry I don't have exact figures as they weren't given. But maybe worth a look into?

I buy car parts from the UK, US and sometimes other places. Often even paying as much in shipping as the item costs it's still half of the NZ price.
Don't forget to factor in import duty and GST. The limit is about $400 to not pay GST.
They sometimes open parcels and check them to make sure they're not under-valued. I had one opened.
They also charge you GST on the shipping as well as the item, even though it's a service provided in another country that you have already been taxed on at source. Humph.

Yes that applied in our case paying $2,000 for a 9 month old car we imported on our return, don't forget all revenue raised GST, income tax etc goes towards paying the people on benefits!
