Hi everyone
Could anyone recommend a place to purchase a second hand car in Christchurch....
Looking at spending $5000.
Your advice would be appreciated...

Canterbury Cars down Main Road (or main south road..) They were really good with us, got a toyaota Rav 4 for $1000 off the price, the guy was really helpfull. Just going down moorhouse Av you will see so many car dealers, there is a place called backpacker cars which is good aswell.

Hi there, we've just bought our first car here off Trade Me. Bargain!!!!! $3000 for an executive car. It all depends what your looking for. There are loads of motor sales along Moorhouse which was mentioned before, but usually over what you want to pay.

If you’re pretty au fait with all things mechanical, there is a regular car auction on Moorhouse Ave too, where you can save a big wedge of cash. It’s where all the dealers buy their stock, however there’s no warrantee or anything like that – so you picks your car, you takes your chances.
Allocate a day to meandering along Moorhouse, and you’ll come away with a decent motor I reckon.
For super cheap, there’s a place called ‘Backpackers Car Market’ on Battersea St, a short walk from Moorhouse Ave, which is where we got ours. Basically, people looking to move on from NZ to other countries convene there to sell their cars & campers. Got ours for $700, and apart from a slightly dodgy battery, she’s a beaut.
Hope this helps folks,
Wiz

Take a look at the following website. It has quite a few second hand car dealers.

My general advise, and this was given to me when we just arived, stay clear of any car dealers on the South side of Moorhouse Avenue as they have a general tendancy to be quite dodgy.
Cheers,

Noone has mentioned www.turners.co.nz.
Really good if you have good nerves and know what you want.
Well worth going along to see how it works.
