Default Building a house

Hi, always wanted to build my own house, does anyone have an idea of how much it will cost, we are looking at plots of land in the BOP approx 850m. It will hopefully be 3-4 bed single storey brick & tile or brick & steel.
Just looking for budget costs for the building,

thanks.

Hi Richard,

Obviously the costs vary depending on the quality of the materials and finishing but I have heard different prices ranging from $1200 up to $2000 per square metre.
Most 3/4 bedders are around the 230 square metres depending on if you want a second lounge which is very common over here.
If you are thinking of doing alot of the work yourself then obviously you can save money there but dont forget that labour costs out here are pretty low and builders dont seem to make the killing that they do in the UK. Things are much more competively priced.
Good luck
Where in BOP?
Ash

Thanks, we are looking at Bethlehem or other areas that side of Tauranga.
If we purchased a plot, is planning permission easy to gain?

I thought sections were usually for sale with utilities to boundary and some have conditions/covenants as to what type of house, min/max size etc.

A 'PLOT' is where you are buried over here hun You build on a section, or should I say 'siction'
