Budget
Hi again,
Another question from me...
My partner and I are looking at moving to NZ within the next three years. Step one is saving up enough cash!
We've thrown together a rough budget and I'd appreciate other peoples thoughts on how realistic it looks.
I'm hoping most of these are over estimates, but would appreciate any advice.
Cheers
Charlie

Re: Budget
The standard mortgage deposit is now 20%, so if you spend $400k on a house, that's $80k, or about 30k pounds, if you get exchange rate right
$5k is a basic but useable car

Re: Budget
Agree with above re mortgage deposit and car.
Renting, very much depends on area and type of house but 3-bed ballpark figure say $300 a week so 6 months rent $7,800 plus month's deposit $1,300 at exchange rate of 2.5 would be around 3,640 GBP and around $1000 a month for 2 people food, phone, sky, electric around 400 GBP a month.
Anything could happen to these estimates within 3 years though but gives you a rough idea.

Re: Budget
Thanks for the replies. I suspected that our mortgage estimate would be low . At least we know now rather than in a years time. Time to get saving!
