Default Broadband router & Electrical question

Hi everyone,

Our furniture etc is being collected in June, so I am busy deciding what to take and what to car boot!!!!!

I now know that my UK Sky Digi-Box is useless in NZ (apparently), but will my broadband wireless router work?

Also, is it possible to stick an NZ plug onto a UK extension lead? Thus negating the need to change all my plugs, or are the voltages not compatible?

Thanks

Hi

On the router technically it should work but when you get broadband connected here you normally get a new router, wont do any harm to bring it though as it hardly takes up any room.

As far as the plugs go you could change the extension lead plug to a NZ plug then replug the UK appliances into it, however you would need to be careful if something went wrong, if you were not using a std NZ plug it is highly likely that the insurance could be tricky on this.

And yes your Sky box in no use here as the UK takes the broadcast from Astra 2 where NZ is on a totally different one, pretty sure Astra 2 is not even visible in the southern hemisphere

I use my UK broadband wireless router as it was a good model and didn't fancy paying the extra for another one. They only difficult thing was getting the router settings for the NZ network. You will need some sort of internet access to get hold of them.

Regarding plugs I just use a NZ plug on a UK extension lead. Can't see it being a problem especially as UK plugs are much more robust than the NZ ones.

Thanks alot for all your comments

I have been on the Sky (NZ) website, but can`t see if they show any English Premiership football at all.

Do they?

Normal NZ plugs aren't fused so just watch how you load up the extension lead if it has multiple sockets, although the individual UK plugs are fused the next fuse up the line is the distribution board....
