British Invasion
More than 10,500 registrations from people considering moving here from Britain have been lodged with Immigration New Zealand since the Brexit vote.
Tenfold increase in interest from Brits wanting to move to New Zealand since Brexit referendum - Business - NZ Herald News
Tenfold ?? Someone check the maths: 49 days after the vote, there were 10,647 registrations from the UK compared with 4,599 over the same period last year.
So expect the next major outcry; bloody Poms coming here grabbing our land, taking all our jobs and pushing up the price of housing.

Welcome to the bubble, form a queue at the nearest Harcourts. I hear Auckland is good value for money and that's where ALL the jobs are.

It's hardly surprising, they obviously want to get away from all the blöödy immigrants.

Come on down folks, there be hobbits and the living is easy: there's no traffic, rugby 24/7, houses are cheap, the sun always shines and there are no dodgy politicians.

Similar article in the Guardian

Not clear if this was people asking what was involved, or submission of EOIs.
From the numbers, and knowing the low percentage if Brits in at least the parental category, most likely these are just people going "sod this, how about NZ" but with no real intention of doing anything.
Hang on, what's going on in my teacup? Looking a bit stormy.....

As one of those hopefully soon to be bloody Pom immigants here's my two cents
$0.02
But on another note o believe this is people signing up to news letters form immigration so many are put off when they actually realise the work involved

Re: British Invasion
The mindset is still "I am a Pom. Here is my £10. Now let me in. Where is my house and my job ?"
See the posts about migrating to California or Florida. People really DO believe that you can just go (as you could up until WW1, unless you were Chinese !).

Your razor sharp wit really made me smile. You will learn to reign that in, kiwis can be quite dull.
That's about the size of it, yeah.

Re: British Invasion
Yes that's right, we are all packing up and leaving our families to move to the other side of the planet, watching the value of the £ drop (currently $1.80 down from about $2.20 pre-Brexit) selling our houses and haven't done any research at all. Can you please not lump all of us UK potential expats together please folks. Sitting in Auckland airport now, after spending a month here and therefore being perhaps more up to date than those who haven't been back to the UK in years, my humble opinion is that there are many, many reasons to move to NZ. I know a holiday isn't the same as living here obviously but as you all know, it takes a lot of hard work to make the move. I do agree though, I reckon this is journalistic license and can't believe that all of those people have drilled down into points required. Maybe it isn't. It's worth pointing out that there is a massive amount of disillusionment in the UK and it is quite a bubble here.

You will find yourself going into a battle of wits with an unarmed man and/or woman on more than one occasion. You just lose the will to live in the end.
Either they look at you blankly or you laugh at something and they weren't being ironic.
BTW I'm from Woking, where about in Surrey are you ?
