Brit ex pats-40+(young minded-Children gone-living in Pukekohe-looking for friends
We've been in NZ since Sept 2007 and finding it hard to make new friends in a slightly different environment.
We like a beer or two, was into going to see a decent rock covers band in England, we like food, listening to music, having folk over for a meal (or a barby) and having a laugh (british humour), is there anyone out there that is like minded and fancies meeting up for a beer and getting out of the house for a change?

We are newly arrived in Maraetai - me, husband, 2 boys (5 and 3). If anyone fancies a walk along the beach and a coffee....

Hi there
We are in pretty much a similar situation arrived here in late 2007 and have been unable to make any real friends of our own age 40+. We are fairly normalish people from Manchester where we did have a good circle of well established friends. Our four children are grown up and still in the UK they would not and will not join us
My husband is into Cricket Rugby Football indeed anything sporting (he is in heaven today) I specialise in avoiding sport of any kind. We like to socialise over drinks and a meal and my husbands cocktails are legendary (well at least in Urmston) not had a chance to try them out here really
So if you live in Wellington or surrounding areas and have a sense of humour (remember I am a northener) please e-mail me

Hi there....We have been here nearly a year and are here on work visas. I was born in Urmston and still have family over there...small world......what are these cocktails your hubby makes.......mine likes to make beer and wine...and last Christmas made a punch called dead mans punch....and it certainly packed a punch....I will send you a PM when you have made a few more post.......
He makes anything you want (within reason) he was known locally as Tom Cruise. There the resemblance ends he is taller and has a significantly smaller bank account. Ah Urmston did you ever go to the "Standard Indian Restaurant" it was one of our favorites we miss a good curry. We are off home for our Daughters wedding in October and its on our list of things to do I can taste it now !!
Beer and Wine making sounds like a man to know
Nice to hear from you look forward to A PM when I am allowed !

Good Curry.......yes I remember a place called the Deccan (I think)or Decca) it was on Flixton Road back in the late 70's-80's.....really nice...where was the Standard?...was that the one on the corner of Higher Rd...maybe wrong again!. I remember going to a curry house for a re union with some old buddies carnt think of the name......we have been for a curry over here and it was ok but I found the chicken meat a bit fatty.
We have tried lots of different Indian restaurants in NZ but just do not like them it may be that the curry they serve in UK is not the real thing but we like it. I can just about live without curry but the jury is out on Boot's and Marks & Spencers. I have huge withdrawal symptoms the chemists in Wellington well not a patch. My husband thinks I am nuts is it just me ?

Yes the one on Flixton road is the Deccan and it was still there when we left we were told by the owner that it has been there for 40 yrs? The Standard is on Higher Rd good memory.
